Expertise Of Good Samaritan And St. Francis Recognized By Blue Cross Blue Shield

As part of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield system’s national Blue Distinction Specialty Care program, CHI Health Good Samaritan and CHI Health St. Francis were once again designated Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care.

A Blue Distinction Center is recognized for quality care of moms and newborns, better overall patient satisfaction, and fewer early elective deliveries. Programs are awarded the added “plus,” the highest designation given, for recognized efforts to provide affordable health care with lower complication rates and fewer hospital readmissions.

Only five hospitals in the state, including CHI Health Lakeside and CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy in Omaha, have achieved this top designation for maternity care.

Good Samaritan and St. Francis are also designated Blue Distinction Centers for demonstrating quality care, treatment expertise and better overall patient results in Knee and Hip Replacement and Spine Surgery categories. In addition, St. Francis is noted as a Blue Distinction Center for Substance Use Treatment and Recovery.

Since 2006, the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program has helped patients find quality providers for their specialty care needs while encouraging health care professionals to improve the care they deliver.
