Essentia Health To Offer American Heart Association Life Support, CPR Classes
Essentia Health is excited to begin offering American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Heartsaver CPR courses to the community.
Courses can be found online at EssentiaHealth.org and are listed as HeartCode BLS and Heartsaver Total – Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED. Courses are designed to prepare students to respond in an emergency by teaching them lifesaving skills.
Both are offered in a blended-learning format, with students completing a self-directed online module through the AHA followed by an in-person, hands-on skills session at Essentia with an AHA instructor.
HeartCode BLS is designed for health care professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-hospital and pre-hospital settings. This includes EMTs, paramedics, firefighters and hospital providers.
Heartsaver Total is designed for anyone with little to no medical training who needs first aid and/or CPR training and a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g. OSHA) or other requirements.
The online module can be purchased directly from the AHA and pricing varies based on the course. The in-person skills sessions cost $40 for HeartCode BLS and $75 for Heartsaver Total.

Heartsaver Total | 6-8:15 p.m. Oct. 9 and Dec. 12
In-person skills sessions will be held at the Essentia Health Support Services Center at 3314 33rd St. S. in Fargo.
