38th annual Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament returns during All-Star Week

he Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament tees off for the 38th time June 16, offering both an 18-hole golf tournament and a 9-hole scramble.

The 18-hole tournament, presented by Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops, takes place at Rose Creek Golf Course, 1500 E. Rose Creek Parkway S., Fargo. Tee times are 7:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Cost is $1,000 per team of four.

The 9-hole scramble, presented by Luther Family Buick GMC, takes place at Osgood Golf Course, 4400 Clubhouse Drive S., Fargo. The tee time is 9 a.m. and the cost is $500 per team of 4. The scramble is an opportunity to engage community members to enjoy a morning of fun in support of cancer survivors and the great care provided by the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center.

Kent Hrbek played his entire 14-year Major League Baseball career with the Minnesota Twins, helping guide the Twins to World Series titles in 1987 and 1991. In 2000, Hrbek was inducted into the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame.

Paul Molitor played 21 seasons in Major League Baseball, which featured seven All-Star Game appearances and 3,319 hits. In 1993, Molitor was named World Series Most Valuable Player, leading the Toronto Blue Jays to victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. In 2004, Molitor was elected to the MLB Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. Molitor most recently served as manager for the Minnesota Twins from 2015 to 2018. In 2017, he was named American League Manager of the Year.

Chad Greenway played his entire 11-year NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings. Greenway is a two-time Pro Bowler and led the National Football Conference (NFC) in combined tackles in 2010. Greenway is a two-time Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, given annually honoring a player’s volunteer and charity work, as well as excellence on the field.

A number of well-known local athletes will also be participating.

Roger Maris All-Star Week was created to support the work happening at the cancer center, honor loved ones, friends and neighbors affected by cancer, promote Roger’s passion for fitness and youth sports and celebrate the enduring legacy of hometown hero, Roger Maris.
All proceeds from Roger Maris All-Star Week and the golf tournaments remain local, benefitting the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center.
