Susan G. Komen® Great Plains announces 2018-2019 community programs for Nebraska and South Dakota

Susan G. Komen® Great Plains is pleased to announce the availability of ten community programs that will provide hundreds of medically underserved women and men with breast health education, breast cancer screenings and various types of support over the next year.

The programs were selected for funding through a competitive application and independent review process. Organizations in Nebraska and South Dakota will offer programs that reach the most vulnerable populations in the region, including rural, underinsured, and uninsured men and women. These programs help to ensure anyone can access life-saving services that can lead to early detection of breast cancer.

Komen Great Plains is introducing a new Treatment Assistance Program for individuals in Nebraska and South Dakota to help eligible breast cancer patients cover costs associated with treatment. Altogether, the ten community programs represent $414,363 from supporting donors. More information on all community programs is available at www.komengreatplains.org

“Hundreds of families will be touched through these programs thanks to the generosity of Komen Great Plains donors,” said Kelly Carlson, Komen Great Plains board member and director of Sanford Oncology in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. “We see women every day who have to travel great distances for several weeks as part of their breast cancer treatment plans. Support provided helps to ensure the best chance for patients to complete treatment for optimal patient outcomes.”
