Avera Marketing Team Earns Digital Honors at National Event

Avera.org was named a gold-award winner in the “Health Care System” class, one of only three gold-award winners in the Best Overall Internet Site category. The Avera eCARE™ website was named a silver-award winner for the “Other Health Care Facilities” class for best site design.
Kendra Calhoun, Avera Senior Vice President of Marketing, said the customer-focus improvements found in both websites earned the recognition that goes with both awards, and she praised the entire marketing team for their diligence.
“While our digital team and its leadership were specifically honored, every person on our team played important parts in revising Avera’s web presence, and winning this sort of acknowledgement proves we were on the right path with the work we completed,” Calhoun said. “I want to lift up not only the Marketing team, but our system as a whole, because leaders and staff around our footprint guided this immense project to where it is now, which is award-winning, customer-focused and easier to use.”
The awards were presented as part of the eHealthcare Leadership Awards. Strategic Health Care Communications is a national healthcare communications service, and hosted the awards ceremony. Alicia Schumacher, Avera Marketing’s Director of Digital Media, pointed to her team’s hard work across many months preparing the revised and more-robust Avera.org, which launched this summer, as well as the new iteration of the Avera eCARE web home.
“Marketing professionals from across the U.S. looked at our hard work and realized we were a leader in the industry,” Schumacher said. “It’s an honor that underlines the hard work and the dedication of our digital team and writers – everyone really – who put so much pride into what they do. It’s great for them to receive this honor.
The honors were presented at the 20th annual Healthcare Internet Conference eHealthcare Leadership Awards that was held this month.
