As the cases of pertussis (whooping cough) are decreasing in the Black Hills, Regional Health is lifting visitation guidelines at all hospitals and senior care facilities with the exception of Spearfish. The visitation guidelines remain at Spearfish Regional Hospital and Spearfish Regional Surgery Center, where the situation is being monitored; the guidelines will be lifted when deemed appropriate by medical professionals. Regional Health’s priority is the safety and health of its most vulnerable hospital patients and senior care residents.
The Spearfish hospital and surgery center visitation guidelines include:
- If a visitor has symptoms including coughing, sneezing, runny nose or a fever do not visit hospitalized patients.
- No children under the age of 12 will be allowed to visit patients during this time.
- All patients with a cough will be required to wear a mask.
- Only immediate family or designated support person will be allowed in Maternal Child, Labor and Delivery.
For more information about visitation guidelines, contact the appropriate Regional Health facility.
