The Sanford Moorhead Campus opened its doors to the community of Moorhead and the surrounding areas at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014.
Located at 4000 28th Ave. S., (on the north side of I-94 off of the 34th Street Exit) the $17 million facility sits on a 28-acre piece of land. The 49,000-square-foot clinic is equipped with 52 clinic exam rooms and has space for future expansion. This new building will be three times the size of the previous Moorhead Clinic.
The clinic was built with the community and people of Moorhead in mind. Special attention was paid to the design and construction. Featuring Sanford’s classic collegiate gothic architectural style, the building will be full of natural light.
The Moorhead Campus will be the first Sanford location to go live with the new Intelligent InSites partnership. This partnership is focused on bringing care to the patient, and making the clinic experience as efficient as possible or both patient and caregiver. In this new model, patients arriving at the clinic will bypass the waiting room and go to their assigned exam room where nurses, physicians, and lab technicians come to them versus them making their way around to different service locations. Sanford is working to shift the flow of how clinics work to best serve patients – and the new Moorhead Campus is leading the way.
The Sanford Moorhead Campus will host 20 clinicians and employ more than 100 staff members. In addition to existing services available in Moorhead (family medicine, internal medicine, geriatric medicine, medical home, pharmacy, x-ray, behavioral health and lab), the campus will add pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, and outreach services for specialty care, along with advanced imaging, and a pharmacy
“The Moorhead Campus will offer advanced technology to improve patient care. One example is a new X-Ray machine that allows doctors to manipulate images, which can provide a better view of the anatomy. It also allows for slices of images to be taken. Both of these enhancements help diagnose and treat patients more quickly,” said Dr. Richard Marsden, Senior Executive Vice President, Sanford Clinic, Fargo.
Additionally, the clinic’s design encourages more collaboration between
staff members and physicians. The clinic is designed with a new style of “team
space” where physicians, nurses and other team members will interact,
collaborate and coordinate patient care.
“By improving our work flow and efficiency through architectural design and process changes, our goal is to reduce wait times and improve the quality of interaction with our patients,” said Dr. Daniel Blue, President Sanford Clinic.
Same Day appointments for pediatrics, obstetrics, internal medicine and family medicine will be available at the new clinic. To learn more about the Moorhead Campus, or find a physician, patients can visit sanfordhealth.org; keyword: Moorhead.
